article:' The face of our church is changing' - CNN.com
Summary: The catholic church is changing. It began as a small mostly white church. Over the years it has become more diverse, especially with more latin influences. Now in Pennsylvania, two very different catholic churches are merging. One is predominantly white, and the other is predominantly hispanic. The one thing they have in common is their faith. They are now having to revamp their service. Things like worship songs, languages they use in the service, and how they want the service to flow are all coming into question. They are working together to make a smooth merge between the two churches. They are now a universal church.
Analysis: This relates to the period we are studying because it relates catholicism. In colonial times, it was not a widely accepted religion. Today, it is a religion widely seen and aknowledged. It is also interesting to see people of the white and latin race, merging their cultures together because in pre-colonial times, the Europeans, Spanish, French, and Indians didn't have the best relations.
I like this! Whether one is religious or not, having a peaceful, diverse church can benefit not only the church-goers, but also the community around them, as most religions are geared toward helping other people, this will allow the church to be able to relate some problems that families of certain races may not be able to relate to (such as racial discrimination)

ReplyDeleteThis is great, religion should be something where different diverse people come together to share a faith when they have almost nothing in common.
ReplyDeleteHappy to hear about people from all walks of life coming together in harmony and understanding
