California Wildfires: State of Emergency Declared Olivia Browne (Period 6)

After four years of drought, California is in a state of panic. With two raging wildfires, California is a very dangerous place right now. California Gov. Jerry Brown declared a state of emergency in Lake and Napa counties Sunday, as the Valley Fire continued to bring pain and loss. This announcement, which will help with debris removal and waives fees to replace essential documents, like birth certificates for those who had to abandon their homes and belongings, came one day after four firefighters were injured.

The authors of the article are Ashley Fantz and Ed Payne. They appear to be a non bias party having no input on California's state of emergency. The article was produced on September 13th, in California. This effects the situation because it is an event going on where the article was published. I knew that California was going through a serious drought but, I had no idea how dire the wildfire situation is. This article was written to educate the people of America about the dangerous situation going on in California and it has a shocking/worrisome effect on its audience. The article is trying to convey the delicate situation in California and how it is now in a state of emergency. This article is relevant because it discusses a natural disaster occurring within the United States.

  1. Wild fires are one of the hardest things to recover from since it takes so long to regrow everything, but it is good to know that wildfires are not happening that often

  2. I had heard about the drought, who hasn't. But I hadn't heard of the wildfires yet. It's scary to think about things like that. Lack of water then suddenly, you live in the kindling for a raging fire.
