"Sept. 11 Anniversary: With Somber Rituals, Nation Marks 14 Years Since Attacks" -Leah Messinger (period 1)
The article that I read this week was about the countless memorial services and rituals that happened on the fourteenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Fourteen years later, this day is still remembered as vividly as when it originally occurred. The article talks about the many things people did in remembrance from the families that gathered at ground zero to a Chicago high school that served breakfast to their local officials. The main idea, however, is how something that happened so long ago still brings our country closer as a nation every year. Despite everything going on in our own lives, we pause every year to reflect on something much bigger than us.
The saying "we will never forget" is very iconic because despite the fact that we don't really want to remember something so devastating, and some of us were too young to remember, we do anyways. We are truly a united nation on this one day every year because we can all relate to it in one way or another. For something so unfortunate, the way we gather together in response so many years later is really kind of beautiful. In conclusion, this article has a lot of significance because of the overall outpour of love and kindness that comes from something as dark and horrific as these attacks. It is important to remember our past because it is apart of our history and it is something that we can learn from.

I agree with you when you stated, "..the fact that we don't really want to remember something so devastating, and come of us were to young to remember, we do anyways." Although 9/11 is an excruciatingly devastating event, it truly does bring all Americans together. It is the one time where all Americans will take a moment of silence together in unity for the many lives lost that day. Madeline Jones 4th period

ReplyDeleteI think it's important to remember those that we've lost. This is a tragic part of our nation's history and its not something that anyone should forget.

Although this is such a sad even that has happened to America, I'm glad that we still can remember this event and realize that it has made us stronger as a nation and we have overcome that hardship.
