U.S. EAST COAST SHARK POPULATIONS ON THE RISE
Things are looking up for the shark populations on the East Coast! The new count of sharks is at a historic high. In a survey by the National Oceanic and Atmosheric administrations Northeast Fisheries Science Center, they captured and tagged over 2,800 sharks this year to study migratory patterns and population. Compaired to 2012 when only 18,00 sharks were tagged. The article states that the numbers get higher every survey, which is taken very 2 to 3 years. This indicates a slow climb back for the shark population. This is very good news for sharks and the eco system!
