Last Friday, Chris Pratt posted this on his Facebook page. "In the face of unexpected violence, most of us freeze. We crumble. We pray. We cry. But a select few stand up, join up and take the fight to the enemy, in the name of justice. This September 11th I am doing something I invite all of you to do as well. I'm posting a video to #ThankAVeteran." He also posted a video of himself doing what the hashtag says. He thanked veteran Mike Day, a former Navy SEAL. Day survived an Iraqi raid where he was shot 27 times and suffered a brain injury. Later this year, he will be competing in the Kona Ironman Championships to raise money for traumatic brain injury therapy for Carrick Brain Center here in Dallas. Keep in mind, the Kona Ironman Championships are very difficult and this is a man who was shot 27 times and suffered a brain injury. He truly is a selfless man and Pratt wants to thank him for all that he's done. Pratt's video got more than 1.3 million views and 80k shares on Facebook within just a few hours. People shared the video, thanked a veteran, and Pratt started a movement. Pratt's followers gave back to those who put their lives at risk for all of us and the veterans deserve it.
Veterans deserve this kind of treatment and honor all year, and Pratt has just kickstarted that treatment and honor into motion. America needs to give back to its backbone and it needs to do it now. These heroes just go around uncredited for their dedication and love for their country and it isn't fair to them. 9/11 could be just a normal date for us if these heroes weren't risking it all for us. We'd have terrorist attacks here and there if it wasn't for them. Next time you're at a Golden Corral and see someone in a camouflage uniform, put down that fork and thank them. The smallest 'thank you' could mean the world.

He is actually one of the celebrities I like because every character he plays is a part of his personality. He is genuinely a good person from what I have seen, including this post honoring people who fought for the rights of people they don't even know.
ReplyDeleteI seriously love Chris Pratt he's an great and and an all around amazing guy. He uses his star power to be a positive influence to many young kids especially those with cancer and other potentially fatal diseases. Now to see him using it to help those veterans affected by the wars following 9/11 just makes me smile
ReplyDeleteChris Pratt is among few celebrities to be a genuinely a good person. More often than not celebrities don't use their fame on good deeds like this. That gives me faith in the world.
