Chris is alive by Vern Blossfeld

Summary:A giant sheep was found outside Canberra, Australia. It was named Chris by the guy who found it, and a sheep shearer has since set the world record for sheep shearing, after removing the 89 pounds of wool from Chris' body. The sheep had to be sedated throughout the operation, which took 45 minutes.
Analysis: I'm glad Chris is alive and it's nice that we got all that wool. The article said its been seven years since Chris' wool was removed, and that's such a long time. A lot of the time humans are the reason for mistreatment in these cases, and I'm guessing whoever owned Chris is the one who let it get this far, but it's good at least that he's okay now.

  1. THIS IS SO COOL WOW! Sheep have actually become so dependent on humans that they have lost the ability to naturally shed their fur. -Lauren Forrest

  2. Go Chris go! I am so glad that this guy was saved and helped. And big bonus we now have a butt load of wool. Whatever is made by his wool should be a limited edition thing, and on a tag somewhere Chris's story should be told to the world. (Talk about major weight loss)

  3. Wow this is so cool! Unfortunately Chris probably did have an owner that didn't treat him well and let his wool get to that point. But thank goodness that he is now an entire 89 pounds lighter!
