Child Dies After Being Left In Car By Grandparents -Lauren Forrest Flex

11-month-old Jaxon died this past weekend from being left in a car for two hours by his babysitting grandparents.
Early speculations say that the death was accidental, but the child's death is still being investigated. Jaxon's mother, who worked as a nurse during the night shift, was sleeping when her son was being left in the car. She called her parents to see where the boy was when the grandparents realized that he wasn't inside. She rushed outside to find the boy dead in the car that her parents had taken to church earlier that day.
Jaxon was left in the car at around 3:00 p.m., where temperatures in Georgia get to around 90 degrees outside, and can reach 130-171 degrees inside the car in as little as fifteen minutes.

This is the 16th death from being left in a hot car in the United States in 2015. What does this tell us? Is it merely an accident or a sick new/'trendy' way to get rid of unwanted children? Either way, something needs to be done about this recurring cause of death. New technology is being formed to prevent children from being left in hot cars for extended periods of time. Hopefully the technology will work and save many lives.

  1. This is absolutely horrible! I can't believe how one person, let alone two can forget a child!!! It's really that easy to kill a precious form of life.

  2. This is so tragic! I have heard a lot of talk about different technologies that are being developed to prevent this, like a car seat that will beep as soon as the car is turned off until the baby is taken out. I hope that this technology will be able to help prevent this!

  4. This is so sad. I have seen many videos and articles about the problems with leaving a child in the car and what the results are. I think this article can hopefully lead to even more awareness about this awful problem.

  5. Oh geez. Imagine the guilt everyone feels. I feel terrible when i accidentally leave the oven on or the screen door open. Imagine forgetting your child's child in the car to discover them dead hours later. I wonder if there is a way to prevent this sort of death? Some way to remind people? -- Eva Semrad
