The current present of Mexico, Enrique Peña Nieto has been branded as an idiot since day one and has been hated by all citizens of Mexico. They always find a reason to criticize the poor guy but he honestly just puts himself in the worst situations. The most recent thing that has happened is that the most wanted drug lord in Mexico, El Chapo, has once again escaped from prison. This time he has made his escape from the most strict and difficult prison in the country.
The more recent news is that there are several people who work within the prison who are being investigated for maybe having given some sort of helping hand to El Chapo and his escape.
I definitely think that with how corrupt the Mexican government and police system are there are officers capable of masking or even helping El Chapo with his escape. There was a tunnel built just so El Chapo could escape, right to his jail cell. Whether the people involved really had a choice to help him, I don't know. He is a man of much power and could have threatened these people with their lives or given them large amounts of money to get what he wanted.

I really enjoyed reading your current event! I appreciate that it's talking about something that's happening outside American. It goes to show that there are other things going on in the world. I wasn't really sure who El Chapo was until I read your current and now I'm intrigued.

El Chapo is the most powerful person in Mexico. I can kinda get why the officers may have wanted to help. Even if they didn't, what choice do they have? If he escaped either way, they could have died.
ReplyDeleteIt's very scary to think that someone could escape prison, and I'm sure that it made citizens question their personal safety. This just shows how powerful of a person El Chapo really is.
ReplyDeleteIt's terrifying knowing that it's possible for people of such terror are capable to escape prison. Knowing that there's a possibility of the police helping them makes everything worse! Regardless of the corruption, helping a man escape prison is wrong and illegal. Especially when that person is in prison for good reason. Madeline Jones 4th period
