Virus may be tip of Iceberg by Milan Hamilton

A certain respiratory infection is sending hundreds of kids to the hospital in Missouri and possibly spreading throughout the Midwest. The director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Division of Viral Diseases mentioned that this could possibly be the beginning of something very severe. The unusual part of this situation isn't the virus that brings on a cold, because those are very common at this time of the year. The unusual situation is the fact that there have been so many hospitalizations. This virus is sending about 30 kids a day to the hospital in Kansas City Missouri, and 15% of them in intensive care. Doctors say they haven't seen anything like this and recommend taking extra precautions such as washing hands longer, avoid sharing drinks, and disinfect frequently, to avoid getting this infection.

This is really interesting. I hope this respiratory disease doesn't spread to too many parts of the country. It's sad that it's affecting so many kids, it shows that it's obviously really easy for it to spread in schools. I think that as long as everyone is really careful, we may be able to stop this terrible infection.
