US air strikes near Iraqi dam- Veronica Nichols 2nd Period

The Mosul Dam has been at the center of fighting between jihadists and Kurdish forces since the United States decided to launch air strikes last month. US jets had continued to bomb Isis positions on Sunday and Monday. Since US aircraft went into action they have carried out 123 separate strikes, most to defend the dam, and have helped troops reverse some recent Isis gains.

Over the weekend, the US air strikes moved south to protect a minority population of Turkmen civilians who were in danger.
