More than 700 infants exposed to TB at Texas hospital- Elizabeth Walker P. 3

Within the last year more than 700 people, mostly infants, have been exposed to the TB epidemic in a hospital in El Paso, Texas. It is said that a worker came to work some time in the last year with TB and while working months in the infant wing with out knowing or telling anyone. The person is now unemployed and receiving treatment. The hospital is now contacting all of the families by mail and telephone. The Department of Health has come to inspect the hospital to check and see how this kind of thing happened, and how to prevent it.
I think that this is truly awful, and its hard to believe that bad things like this happened. As a positive out-looker I believe that the infected person didn't know the harm that they were doing and is now probably very very ashamed. The health code really needs to be stricter and more governed so that the next generation will grow up to be healthy and strong.

  1. I can see how it happened, if they didn't know that they were carrying TB... but still with something as evident as it usually is, it's surprising that it went like that for so long

  2. Wow! That's scary and crazy! I wonder if the vaccines will protect the babies from the sickness! I hope everyone is ok.

  3. I find it crazy and quite frightening that not twenty but hundreds of infants and people were exposed. I hope the vaccines will help and my heart goes out to the parents.
