Nine year old, Isabel, died at the beach in Lincoln City, Oregon on Friday, August 29th when a hole, she and her siblings had dug in the sand, collapsed on top of her, burying her alive. Others at the beach explained that they had heard screaming, but didn't think much of it at first because they thought it was just kids having fun. They mention at the end that, in fact, the screaming a were repetitive, causing them to act. Police believe that, Isabel was under the sand for about 5 minutes. When fire fighters got there, they dug her out but she was unconscious. And even before they arrived at the scene, others had been quickly trying to dig her out but the sand continued to collapse on top of her. Emergency crews performed CPR on her and rushed her to the hospital and it was there that she was pronounced dead.
This is so terrible. A little girl, who was just trying to have fun at the beach with her family, passed away in such a tragic way. It's something that people aren't really aware of until it happens. I'm actually surprised that there isn't some kind of warning on the possible consequences of digging a deep hole in the sand. Although this kind of death seems fairly rare, I personally think they should begin notifying people of the possible dangers. It's awful that some rules and laws have to be put into place by such a fatal trial and error situation.

I wonder where the kids parents or supervisors where when all of this was going on. It's so sad that her life was taken away from her.

wow this is crazy! It is so sad to see a young girl pass in such a horrific way. I wasn't aware that harmless fun in the sand could end in such an extreme matter. It really makes you think of all the accidents waiting to happen.
ReplyDeleteOmg I cant belive she had to die this way. You would think this would never happen especially to an innocent little girl.
