A team of researchers created an efficient, quick and easy method to create white blood cells from skin cells. This is great news in the medical community. With this technique, we may be able to get forms of treatment with personalized white blood cells to assist patients with weakened immune systems to attack disease-ridden cells and even tumors. This is another step forward in the search for a cure to cancer, a disease that plagues millions of Americans. In addition, this treatment could be utilized to treat other diseases effectively, including many epidemics currently plaguing underdeveloped parts of the world, where sanitary food and water is limited. Hopefully we can use this in the USA and around the globe to combat epidemics and defend ourselves against surprise diseases that go pandemic.
It's great that researchers are discovering such helpful methods of treatment, which could possibly save hundreds of lives.
