Lava Threatens to Cut Off a Community - Elvira Gamboa

Lava that is oozing from a vent from the Kilauea volcano. The lava is within a miles distance of Ka'ohe Homesteads subdivision. The lava will possibly reach the boundary within a week, so the residents are being prepared for an evacuation. An actual evacuation hasn't been ordered yet, but the roads to the area have been restricted.

The news article is from CNN and was written by Mayra Cuevas on September 6, 2014. I hope that people will be able to evacuate on time and that there will be as little damage as possible.

  2. Man, I could only imagine what these people are thinking right now.. It's coming and they can't do anything about it, just take their belongings and leave their house behind. Hawaii is such a lovely place but I could not live there. I hope everyone stays safe and the damage is minimal.

  3. This is a very awful tragedy and hopefully we can learn from it. Mother nature is an unpredictable enemy and although terrible, this is an exercise in ways to secure ourselves from natural disasters.

  4. The people living in that civilization knew about the risk of lava. It is just like living on a small island, it is dangerous. If they are smart then they will leave the area and seek safety.
