Labor Day (vanessa de la cruz)
May 1, 1886 thousands of workers began a protest in many cities across the United States to demand 8 hour work days. Later police responded violently beating and shooting innocent people. Many workers and officers died, making all symbolize May 1 as a day workers fought for there rights. So why wasn't Labor Day on May 1? Out of fear President Cleveland decided to chose the first Monday of every September to be Labor Day, because he didn't want to cause any more protests or any movements. This is why Labor Day is every monday of every September. www.cnn.com
