Historic Chicago Church. Juliana Cortez Pd.3
Sara Bean, mother-of-two, was killed on Thursday. She was walking down the side walk, where the 140 year old historic Chicago church stands, when pieces of a Gargoyle fell off the buildings facade and killed the 34 year old woman instantly. The church apologized a day later, on Friday, after the horrible accident. The church was created in 1873 after the "Great Chicago Fire". In 2006, the church created a nonprofit organization to "oversee preservation of its historic facade and interior architecture" and hoping to receive funds for improvements. Most recently the church was considered a historic landmark as of last year and in 2011 the church failed an inspection. The church is not known for receiving outstanding compliments over the structure and has had violations in the past. On Friday, the church started working to put up a protective scaffolding to prevent any other accidents. The historic building will remain open, despite the incident.

Crazy story and I don't believe that the church should still be open considering what happened.

Considering that the church is so old and a landmark, it shouldn't be closed down. I think the church should take precautions or rebuild areas so events like this do not occur again.
ReplyDeleteI don't think the church should be closed because it is declared as a "historical landmark", but they should make sure that this building is safe and isn't a hazard. Maybe signs saying "falling gargoyles" or something like this to notify people that this is happening. This is an awful thing to have happened.
