Little Girl Dies By Falling Sand

A little girl by the name of Isabel Grace Franks died at a beach in Lincoln City, Oregon on Friday. The Nine year old girl was just playing and digging in the sand, when all of the sudden the sand engulfed and buried her body. Witnesses claim that there was excessive screaming near the scene, and that her siblings were just playing when the sand collapsed, leaving her covered for around five minutes. Moments later, police and firefighters dug her unconscious body out of the pit, only to find out later that she was dead.

While having fun at beaches can be fun and exciting, parents now have to take caution and realize that little kids playing in the sand can be very dangerous. Children are oblivious to danger, especially when having fun with other children and having approval from their guardian(s). People have to take precautions because something as serious as death and as harmless as playing in the sand is reality. The beach should be a safe, fun, exciting adventure for children. Not a horrible place where tragedies happen.

  1. I'm sorry to point fingers, but where are the parents when their children are playing on an open and PUBLIC beach? There is always the threat that a child could be kidnapped if out of a guardians sight or could drown in the water. I understand there were multiple other children, but shouldn't someone at the beach be disturbed by excessive screams of a kid?

  3. Parents need to be more cautious and less oblivious to prevent tragedies like these from occurring. It's a shame that something tragic has to occur for us to realize the dangerous situations that we put ourselves in. (Miguel Dones)

  5. This is actually pretty scary. It's amazing what can happen in such common settings. People really should be more cautious especially while watching children.
