James Foley Beheaded By ISIS - Sophie Potrykus, 2nd Period

This article, written by Chelsea  J. Carter of CNN, talks about the recent recorded video of photojournalist James Foley being beheaded by a member of the Syrian terrorist group, ISIS. James was reported to be kidnapped back in 2012 while working over in Syria. In this video he is shown kneeling next to a man covered in clothes, only his eyes being seen. He then forced to make a Anti-American speech, saying that America is really the bad guy in this situation.
The members of ISIS are using this video as a warning to America, threatening to execute another journalist, named Joel Sotloff, on camera soon. This group says that this mans life relies on "Obama's next decision." This is incredibly important to anymore living in America at this time, for this is the yet another group linked to the Al Queda. Everyone should be extremely cautious; we are treading on thin ice as is.
I hope we all keep James Foley and his family in our thoughts, hopefully nothing as tragic as this happens again.

  1. This is a terrible thing happening to innocent people. I hope it ends soon.
They're beheading people because of religion?
Why is America the 'bad guy'?

  2. I understand that the US has made some decisions that have hurt that area, but do they have to torture and kill innocent people for it? Absolutely not. Goodness gracious

  3. The people who do all this threats are just finding a way to get america involved in conflicts. Every one wants tge attention of america. The easiest way is to get an innocent man and threaten his life.

  4. This is clearly a tragic occurrence and that is the main focus; however, this showed the terrorist's group's true color and their complete disregard to the human life. ISIS has no mercy and nearly zero restrictions towards reeking havoc upon people; wether it be their own or other countries. This is a conflict that should not be taken lightly nor disregarded.
