With the looming panic of having a deadly epidemic sweep the nation, how much is there to really fear? Well according to a professor from Purdue, it's not such a big deal. The likeliness of having the Ebola virus wiping out America is very low. Because, thanks to such advanced technology and Western containment, health research and officials can prevent advancement. Of course just because the threat level isn't as severe as we thought, doesn't mean we should run about all willy nilly, sneezing on each other! The virus is still just as serious as West Nile and we should be just as careful to prevent any chance of spreading the pathogen. If you want to check out the story, click on the link below. And just for grins, I attached an episode from the Daily Show addressing the ISIS threat with an Ebola Trailer, (time 11:30). WARNING: PG-13 content, but you're in high school so I would assume you've heard worse.

If this professor thinks that this virus is not such a big deal, than is he saying that the news and pretty much most of the media is blowing things out of proportion? I am personally not a fan of drama either, but from what I have been reading and hearing about it, I'd rather be a little more on the precocious side than get infected by ebola.
ReplyDeleteI love the Daily Show! Thanks for the PG-13 Warning. What do you think about Ebola now that is has shown up in DISD? Does that change your opinion? Have there been any historical outbreaks in the past that you could relate this to?
