E. Coli takes the FDA by storm- Rachel Devine (6th period)

Since the recent outbreak of E. Coli, the Food and Drug Administration (better known as the FDA) has decided to stop the production of many goods, specifially French cheeses. The food safety agency's main concern as of now is that the two ingredients in the cheeses are raw milk and bacteria. Yes, some bacteria is needed to make the cheese, but now the FDA fears it may not be the good kind. According to cheese shop managers througout the world, "there is confusion over the rules" and their products are fine.

With the outbreaks of E. Coli floating around the world nowadays, I'm glad the FDA is doing what they can to prevent further damage. The cheese shop managers are probably biased because they just want to sell their products and make money, but I would rather be safe than sorry. Whatever precautions are made, they are for our health and safety and we need to be aware of what we should and shouldn't put in our bodies.

  1. Hopefully this will prevent any future cases of any e. coli outbreaks.

  2. In the mean time I think it's good the FDA is taking precautions for E. Coli, but they should get more evidence before they risk putting cheese makers out of a job.
