An old metal bracelet was found 10 days ago upon the shores of New York's Robert Moses State Park. It was engraved with the name of a deceased firefighter who lost his life in 9/11.
A women named Marlene Quinn discovered the bracelet, and she found it to be a quite memorable find.Quinn stated she was strolling along the beach "praying for peace and comfort" after her brother (a firefighter), 62-year-old Michael O'Neill had shockingly passed.
The name of the firefighter inscribed on the bracelet also happened to be named Michael. It precisely read "Michael J. Otten, F.D.N.Y. LADDER 35 9/11/01."Quinn had known this name, for he was the only one who passed from her town during 9/11.
Quinn discovered the address of the Otten family and sent them the bracelet and a note. Quinn thought this find was a sign from God as well as her beloved brother. The wife of Otten, Marion, had not known that the bracelet was missing, but she also took this as a sign.
Her son, Jonathan, had lost the bracelet around 10 years ago in the beach. Jonathan currently keeps the bracelet in a safe spot. It is another form of connection to his dad. Jonathan Otten as well as his brother, Christopher are meant to become firefighters, a clear significance to their family.
This article was written by Haimy Assefa and Ray Sanchez on September 7, which is very significant considering how close this was to the date of 9/11. The timing of discovering this bracelet only adds more passion to the story, for it can truly be seen as a sign from both Quinn and Otten's brothers. I already have an immense amount of knowledge on the topic of 9/11, but this short article really was positive in commemorating those who lost their lives. That, is what I think, the appropriate thing to do. This is relevant because this event shall never be forgotten, and anything that helps one connect to a loved one should be acknowledged. There is no target audience for this article because I believe anyone should read it, for it has a positive influence and really showed the true meaning of being unforgotten.
