Alleged White House intruder is decorated Iraq combat vet

Omar Jose Gonzalez is a Texas man being accused of dashing through the White  House front door Friday with a folding knife is a "decorated Army veteran and marksman who served in Iraq, the U.S military said Sunday." He is being charged with illegally trying to enter the White House complex, in turn serving more than 13 years over the course of two army stints. He allegedly, " jumped the White House fence along Pennsylvania Avenue at 7:20 pm Friday, then crossed the North Lawn and opened the mansions front door before being apprehended by a Secret Service police officer standing guard." He told the Secret Service agents that "the atmosphere was collapsing" and he had to tell the president to warn the public.  Since he wasn't armed, agents there didn't shoot or have their dogs peruse him before he made it inside the White House.

I can't tell if this guy has a mental problem or disability. I'm glad that our agents didn't flat out shoot him and also to confront him and handle this situation in a calm manor from what it seems.

  1. This man must have lost it or suffered from trauma after serving in the war. Wow that's really crazy.
