A Virus hits the Midwest- Ausia Jones 3rd

Recently about 475 children were treated at one Kansas City hospital for a very uncommon virus known as Enterovirus EV-D68. Missouri doctor calls situation "unprecedented" in terms of kids in intensive care another Colorado doctor states that "This is the worst I've seen in my time". Enterovirus EV-D68 causes respiratory illnesses like a cold, only worse. This virus feels and starts out as a cold and over time becomes a deadly disease. Victims of this disease complain of heart hurting, lungs closing, breathing problems. There is no vaccine for virus. This particular type of enterovirus -- EV-D68 -- is uncommon, but not new. It was first identified in the 1960s and there have been fewer than 100 reported cases since that time. Hopefully they are able to create a vaccine for this disease.

  1. This is so sad to me because lives ending due to an illness is so touching. I have asthma and i know what it feels like to not be able to breathe so to know that others feel what i do, is just horrible to me. No one deserves that. I hope to have vaccines or ways to fight illnesses/cancers/diseases soon with such high technology rates over time! -Sarah Oviedo 6Th Pd.
