19 Dead Due to Faults in GM Vehicles by Corran Nolan

The attorney overseeing the GM compensation fund, Ken Feinberg, has already linked 19 deaths to faults in the ignition switch used in GM cars, and the number is expected to keep rising. The fault itself was unreported for over a decade after the fault was first discovered by GM engineers, leading to a stream of 125 death and 320 injury claims towards GM. Families compensated by the fund set up to by GM to address these deaths and injuries can receive $1,000,000, as well as estimated future earnings and $300,000 for each surviving family member. Many of the injuries were horrific, including severe burns, double amputations, and paralysis, and Ken Feinberg says the company wishes to do what is right for the victims and loved ones of victims. Those who make the claims must have a swath of evidence to prove that the ignition switch led to the accident and injuries. The fault causes the disabling of power-steering, anti-lock brakes, and airbags. The company has recalled 30,000,000 vehicles due to the malfunction.

This article is important because it highlights the way that companies in America can get away with just about anything due to legal pandering and untruthful business practices. The GM ignition fault switch caused the death of potentially 125 people, and could've caused the deaths of 30,000,000 more, and the company KNEW about the fault and went ahead with production and sales anyway. The people responsible should be convicted for MURDER, or manslaughter at the very least, however, because of their connections, they are just paying off the people who have suffered because of them. Welcome to America.
