Trump’s response to women’s march- Melanie Escalante

Trump tells the women marching to celebrate the success from the past year. Although this sounds nice, he’s actually taking a jab at their reason for marching. A year ago after his inauguration, women marched. This year, they march for issues surrounding our society including women’s rights and Trump’s presidency.
I think he shouldn’t try to take away from the motives behind the women’s march. These women joined together to express their views yet he feels the need to basically tell them that there are no issues to be solved because he’s fixed them. I don’t think he understands that women aren’t just complaining about their status economically, they’re upset with the things he says (not just about women but about other issues). These women aren’t being selfish (although it wouldn’t necessarily be bad if they were), they’re taking their stance as strong independent women to promote equality. I hope this tradition continues to prosper and get even more involved in our society. I’m also hoping that now Trump can put his phone down and do something about the catastrophe in the White House right now.

  1. I think it’s extremely important for them to march, because they are expressing their freedom of “speech” in a physical way. Trump has basically tried to reverse every bad thing he’s said by saying it in a way to save himself.
