In this article, a woman named "Daniela"is interviewed and describes how she is taken by the Zeta Cartel then Gulf Cartel in Northern Mexico. She was forced to do many sexual activities, drug trafficking, as well as watching horrific scene. She was chipped. This is her story on how she was captured all the way until now.
Oscar Balderas from VICE News wrote this article and posted it online on August 27th, 2016. This article is directed towards the population in Mexico it has a negative connotation to caution the people to pay attention about the problems going around them. It affects our community today because it's recent. It's a growing problem; the article included a statement about Mexico having a drastic number of missing people back in 2012, but the missing people number is almost the same in 2016. This article is very important because it's about two problems brought up often: Drugs and Sex-slavery. Sex trafficking is a multi-million dollar business as well as Drug trafficking. We need this to spread awareness, since America is known to have prostitution. This article even relates to actual slavery; the taking of woman, men and children and forcing them to do something they don't even want to do.
This is so true! Just imagine how high drug trafficking and sex trafficking would be in the future! We should put a end to this, but my question to you is "How would you handle the situation?"
ReplyDeleteIm not really sure how I would handle the situation, being kidnapped and forced to do illegal activities is one of my biggest fears -Qiaunci Jones

ReplyDeleteIt's so shocking that horrifying events such as this happen so close to Texas. This is an often overlooked issue that the United States needs to address.

Law enforcement should do a better job at persecuting the people that do those kind of things. Their actions should not be taken lightly and they should be covicted. We as a people should raise awareness of this issue and put an end to it.
ReplyDeleteI agree that there needs to be a spread in awareness. This is a topic that I haven't seen talked about in a while, but it is just as important because it could possibly directly affect us
