This article was written by Off the Grid News Staff August 25th. The author tries to create an unbiased point of view in order to give news and let the audience form his or her own opinions. Since this article was written a month after the incident at the end of July in Massachusetts it could affect how fast people are getting news that could directly effect them. This incident directly affects residents and gun producers/sellers in Massachusetts. This was written to inform people on the gun band that was effective immediately.
The Attorney General, Maura
Healey, in Massachusetts used a past law written in 1998 to justify the
ban of certain guns. She interpreted the law so she could further ban more
guns in particular ones that are similar to already banned guns. This outraged
many people and has prompted responses such as a group of people called the
"Gun Owners' Action League", held a rally in Box-borough to protest
this action and to bring light to the Second Amendment. Many people support
this democrat’s action and many oppose it. Healey states that the guns need to
be either sold out of stores or sold to out of state dealers before this rule
is effective.
This article is important
because it shows more news on the controversy on gun restrictions. With as many
shooting and incidents that’s been going on many believe that there needs to be
stricter gun laws. It is relatively easy to purchase a gun in America compared
to other countries. It is believed that if we have stricter gun enforcements
then there will be fewer killings. On the other hand to that many people feel
the safety of guns for self defense in homes. This current event challenges the
Second Amendment in the U.S. Constitution, which gives the right to bear
arms.
Prior
knowledge: I had no prior knowledge to Massachusetts' Attorney General Healey
banning copy cat guns to those that are already banned. I did have
knowledge of the fact that many states are taking action to gun control with
the killing and other incidents that been going on. It's a very controversial
subject because some people want the protection of guns and others want there
to be limitations on them.
