On Friday, August 26, 2016 San Fransisco 49ers Quarterback Colin Kaepernick decided not to stand during the national anthem before the game. And this obviously raised a lot of controversy. When the face of such a large sports organization decided to do something so out of the ordinary, everybody is going to have an opinion. Some believe that he should be suspended and others believe that it is his right as an American to sit during the anthem.
This article discusses his reasoning behind it which was caused by the racial tension in this country and also explains why he cannot and should not be punished for it. I believe that it is his right as an American to not stand during the national anthem. Although it was really disrespectful, it was not illegal in anyway so I believe that punishing him for it would only make things worse and more complicated than they already are.

Yeah, it's his choice to not pledge his allegiance to the flag, punishing him would be a big step backwards in our society. Good stance C.J.
ReplyDeleteIt just makes no sense on how such little actions can be judged so harshly these days. Interesting article -Qiaunci Jones
