Valedictorian wasn't allowed to walk to his stage at graduation.(Alejandra Hernandez 6th period)

Summary: Andrew Jones was valedictorian of his high school and on graduation day yet he did not participate. It is very sad, the only reason was because he had a goatee. Jones said that his beard was never a problem throughout his high school so he did not expect such a consequence. It is very disappointing because he had straight A's all throughout high school. He worked all four years and he could not attend his graduation. It is a real shame because he will never have this experience again.

Analysis: The NAACP is working on trying to get justice for him. This is interesting because the NAACP was formed in 1909 and it is still relevant today. Most people would say that there is no need for the NAACP but they do not know how unfair life is for an african-american. Only people who have experienced such unfairness know how important the NAACP is to them.

If he was not able to walk at graduation because he had a goatee why did the NAACP get involved? Aren't they making this a racial situation? However, I completely agree that this is sad.

  3. Angelique Flores 9th- This is ridiculous. How is the school going to take away his high school graduation? If jones had to goatee while he was valedictorian then why couldn't he have it at graduation?
