Space Shuttle Fuel Tank Stops Traffic In LA by Andrew Witcher 4th

A fifteen story, 32 1/2 ton never used space shuttle fuel tank made a slow journey across Los Angeles. The large ET-94 is composed of 3 chambers, one filled with liquid hydrogen, one with oxygen, and the last serves as a combustion chamber. Liquid hydrogen is the choice fuel for rockets, as it is light, and extremely powerful. This fuel tank would have been used to launch a space shuttle into space. The booster completed 15 mile trip across LA to the California Science Center in a whopping 18 hours, creating a traffic disaster. The tank was limited to a top speed of 5mph, causing quite the disruption. It will be on display with Endeavour, the main shuttle, very soon.
