Candidates themselves would avoid being seen slinging mud, if possible, so as to avoid coming across as undignified or desperate.
Synth: Donald Trump once again surprises America with something never before seen in a presidential candidacy, and in the past we have learned that is a valid tactic, as Americans like to see something new every now and then. For example Bill Clinton was a whole new type of president because of his charm, and the people loved that.
