Officer in Freddie Gray's Arrest Found Not Guilty by Shelby Linker, 8th period

Officer Edward Nero was one of the many officers tried in court on account of the death of Freddie Gray, 25, who died in police custody due to spinal cord injury sustained while being taken into custody. Nero was being charged for second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and two counts of misconduct in office. On Thursday the final judgement was read, Nero was found not guilty.

I'm aware of the case but I'm not completely sure what Nero's specific role was. I believe about five of his fellow police officers were found guilty so it makes me wonder, what made the jury choose differently concerning Nero's case? This reminds me of the police officer brutality during the peaceful marches of the Civil Rights Movement. I can't say for sure whether this is the right or wrong ruling but I hope Gray gets the justice he deserves.
