Leicester Win The English Premier League For the First Time // Uriel Cruz, Period 6

Leicester City, one of England's lower rated football clubs, has just won the Premier League. The Premier League is sort of a tournament won by points at the end of the 38  matchday period, by the way. Leicester has never come close to winning this title before and had a "5.000 - 1" chance of winning when the season started. This win is all thanks to the club's manager and players somehow pulling it together and beating higher class clubs like Manchester City and Chelsea.

This reminds me of how Civil Rights activists made their way up to nationwide recognition and were actually listened to by the government. From the Montgomery Bus Boycotts starting because of Rosa Parks not wanting to give up her seat to a white person to Martin Luther King's I Have A Dream speech, the Civil Rights activists and the movement itself did something no one ever thought would be possible. The movement scratched and pulled its way up to the top, leaving things the government actually listened to, like white supremists and racist laws, in the dust.

Congratulations to Leicester City
