Keeleigh Everett

Summary: The Amtrak train was going about 75 mph, when the engineer noticed the deformity in the rail and pulled the brakes, a U.S. official told The Associated Press. The official spoke on the condition of anonymity because the official wasn't authorized to speak publicly about the federal investigation. This derailment caused much confusion, which surprisingly didn't lead to any other accidents.

Analysis: Even though the rail lines have improved with time it seems that they have also become more dangerous. When trains first came along they were basically box cars and rarely were any sort of trouble except the fact of pedestrians. Now a days our railroad systems have become more complex and with the conductors in control they have to take into account speed, turns, and surroundings. If the conductor was being more cautious this accident could have been avoided.
