Deputy ambushed at substation // Olivia Gillis P3

On Friday, a bulletproof glass door shielded an Arizona sheriff's deputy from gunfire in what was later found to be an ambush. The shooting occurred in a substation in Surprise, Arizona and it happened to be the second time a county deputy had come under fire this month. The sheriff reported that a gunman parked his car outside the station and fired several times. The sheriff was able to escape injury after positioning himself by a bullet-resistant door. Another deputy who was in the station's parking lot arrested the suspect after getting him to drop one of his weapons. Neither the suspect's name nor charges against him have been released. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, however it was the second ambush against one of the deputies here in two weeks.
Since a similar "ambush" occurred at the same substation very recently, it seems that there may be a motive against the deputies employed here. In the other recent shooting, a gunman in a passing car opened fire on a deputy. The suspect fled, the deputy was released from a hospital a few days later, and the motive still remains unknown. There have been past court orders and cases that involves this station, as well as racial cases that could have a connection with the motive behind these shootings.
