Cruz and Kasich Unite to Take Down Donald Trump by Caroline North 9th period

Ted Cruz and John Kasich joined forces in an attempt to deny Donald Trump the presidency.  While it's doubtful/impossible that either of the two will win the Republican nomination by electoral count, they hold on to the hope that they can at least hold off Trump enough to have an open convention this summer.

This is a major change in strategy for the two delegates as Cruz for the duration of his campaign had mostly ignored Kasich.  Their motive for teaming together is to preserve the Republican party.  However ultimately shouldn't their motive be to preserve America?  Having Donald Trump as a president of the United States would be detrimental to our nation.  He boasts racist remarks-widening an inequality gap, lacks foreign policy experience, supports bombing the Middle East into oblivion despite mutually assured destruction, and does not hold the intelligence, critical thinking skills, seriousness, or patience to communicate and peacefully coexist with other nations.  It would be embarrassing for the Republican party yes, but it would also be defeating for our entire country.
