Adriana Hinojosa, 8th, Never Too Late

"Despite everything, I believe that people are really good at heart." - Anne Frank

I remember the first time I read this, I was taken aback. I really wish that I had this mentality. To see someone like Anne Frank say such a thing is truly inspiring considering all the things she went through.  Anyway, whenever I study the events that occurred during the Holocaust, I always think of how there could've been Nazis that weren't in total agreement of what they were doing. When this article came out, I felt really emotional. At age 94, this former Auschwitz guard apologized for all that he had done. At that time, he was obligated to do certain things and didn't even see them as wrong. Many may think that it is too late and that there is no point for his apology. I think it is a great thing that he was able to recognize after all of the years his wrong doing. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/04/30/world/europe/reinhold-hanning-former-auschwitz-guard-apologizes-at-trial.html
