Summary:
This past Wednesday, 36,000 Verizon workers walked out of work after failing to reach a new labor contract. Because many of the workers have gone without contract since August, the Communication Workers of America union is currently filing an abundance of complaints at the company. Among these are the fact that Verizon outsourced 5000 jobs to workers in Mexico, the Philippines, and the Dominican Republic. Verizon also ontinues to raise prices after cutting costs which isn't beneficial to customers.
Analysis:
Thought I don't understand much of the law surrounding digital communications, anyone can see that Verizon is doing something wrong. The strike reminded me of the labor unions and their strikes against industries. Specifically, the American Federation of Labor worked toward the goal of higher wages, better conditions, and shorter hours which parallels the Verizon workers' need for contracts.
