Summary: American's women's soccer team has dominated recently, with a mass of titles and championships, and now it's top players are confronting the US Soccer Federation about why they have not been receiving equal pay. The US men's team has taken to social media to show their support. The women's games has brought in more income than the men's for sometime, so there is no reason why they should not be paid equally. The men's team gets paid more to show up than the women do to play a game. They filed a wage-discrimination action against USSF with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

Analysis: This can be synthesized to 60's and  70's which we are currently studying. The civil rights act of 1964, which protects against discrimination, gave way to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. While it is upsetting that we are still struggling for equal pay, it is gratifying to see that feminists and those who advocated for equal rights for all several decades efforts are paying off. Hopefully these talented and hardworking women will be treated as such through the way they are paid.

  1. It is so frustrating that this is still a battle that needs to be fought! I think it's great how the men's team stood up in support of the women

  2. I agree that it is frustrating to see that this is still a battle we are fighting. But it is great to see the men standing up for the women.

  3. It is sad to think that we still have to fight for equality, but nice that the feminists' efforts over several decades are paying off.
