On April 2 in Northeastern Kenya, students of Garissa University College were attacked by Shabab militants. A day-long siege took place in which militants separated the Muslims and the non-Muslims. The Muslim students were spared while the non-Muslims were either taken hostage or killed. Shabab states that the attack was a planned “operation against the infidels.” Acts of genocide have been prevalent throughout history, from the Salem Witch Trials, to segregation, to WW2, and unfortunately, similar acts still plague our current-day society.
