This week I read an article that discussed our progressing technology and it's impact on our daily life. Many apps like Microsoft's Kik or Facebook's Messenger are going to have new automated assistants and "chatbots" offering service and help within the upcoming months. These bots are said to be the "new apps" according to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella. These bots will be able to conduct human like conversation along with simple jobs, like those already operating in China.
Analysis- This is all pretty amazing and shocking! It's so cool to see how far we have come in our technology but it also makes me feel cautious not to rush ahead too fast in our innovations and what we become dependent upon. I can relate this article back in US history to the 60s and the political music of the timeframe. While the topic in the article is different than the topic of music in the 60s, they both share a connection. As many political changes and events around the world (like the Vietnam War) were taking place, many changes in music were also occurring as they revealed the ideas, beliefs and emotions of the period. Like the music in the 60s, the technological advancements that are taking place are reflective of the current needs, beliefs and events that are happening in American society today.
