NASA Creates Inflatable Room for Space - Isabella Montague 5th period

Bigelow Airspace recently created an inflatable room, called the Bigelow Expandable Activity Module, or BEAM, to attach to an the International Space Station.  The materials of the module are made of strong, resistant materials that are much cheaper than what was previously used but can also protect astronauts from radiation and harsh space conditions. On Saturday, the module was attached to the space station using a robot arm by a ground-control team. NASA says that this room can be used as a habitat for astronauts, scientists, and even tourists.

I think this is a really cool invention, especially since it can make space travel more safe for astronauts. Personally, there is no way I'm going into space in the near future. We have come a long way from the space race with the Soviet Union from 1957-1975 or from the first moon landing of America in 1969. There are many advancements to come.

I am so excited that NASA is hard at work creating new technology for space, and I cannot wait to see what their future holds.

  2. Very imaginative, and almost seems like a concept out of a child's dream. I absolutely agree that there are many advancements on their way.
