On Saturday, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck the coast of Ecuador. The city that was closest to the quake was Muisne which is only 250 miles from Ecuador's capital, Quito. At least 413 were killed and 2000 were injured, causing a state of emergency across 6 provinces. This has been the most severe earthquake Ecuador has experienced in decades.
This is a devastating incident but there's not much we can do to prevent it, all we can do is help lessen the pain of those having to endure through this disaster. This reminds me slightly of hurricane Katrina and how much of a impact the hurricane had on the lives of many Americans. I hope that Ecuador receives the help that it needs and that they recover as quickly as possible.

ReplyDeleteThis is extremely terrible and devastating. I hope that in reconstruction they build with more reinforced infrastructure to withstand future earthquakes.
I hope the US helps Ecuador recover quickly and reinforces the country to be prepared for any other natural disaster, like Brenna said
