Victoria Garza 9th: "Wildfire near Fresno grows as firefighters brace for hot, dry weather"

On July 31st, a fire broke out near Fresno, California. The fire, ignited by a lightning strike, has spread to over 89,222 acres of land. The effort to stop this fire has required nearly 2,000 firefighters and has cost over $67 million dollars. Officials have been forced to evacuate certain places and send out smoke advisories to those living in the area.

Nature can be beautiful, but it can also be extremely destructive and harmful. Firefighters are trying to stop this fire, but, despite their efforts, they only have it partially contained. Although nature can provide us with wonderful things, it takes it's toll on us in several forms, including earthquakes, tornados, floods, droughts and hurricanes. I think this article shows that we are not the most powerful force in this universe and that nature can overpower us instantly. No matter how much time passes, we will never truly be able to understand or predict the mystery of nature. Nature has made an appearance throughout U.S. history, including Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Galveston, the Dust Bowl, and numerous other natural disasters.

  1. After all, natural disasters are a very real part of this world. In the past, If a fire would burn out a forest, it would eventually regrow. The tricky thing is, humans may attempt to interfere with the regrowth progress by building on the land and other sorts of industrialization.
