Michael Paulson's article "This Broadway Season, Diversity Is Front and Center" was published by the New York Times on September 10th, 2015. According the article, this Broadway season features a broad spectrum of ethnicities, from Asian American to Hispanic to African American. Shows like "Allegiance," "Hamilton," and "The Color Purple," have brought Broadway diversity to an all time high. Additionally, a revival of "Spring Awakening," is being done with deaf actors. This unprecedented amount of cultural representation is being welcomed and praised in the Broadway community.
It is absolutely amazing that so many American minorities are finally being represented in the most American industry ever. This is long overdue. Broadway has always been an encapsulation of what it means to be an American, and the fact that it has been leaving out so many people is atrocious. This event reminds people of the American journey from being mainly white Puritan people to what it is today, a diverse melting pot of all cultures. Although America still has a long way to go, this news is a step in the right direction.

That's awesome! There definitely needs to be more diversity in Broadway, so it's nice to see them taking a step in the right direction. Hopefully their diversity push isn't just this Broadway season, but it becomes something they input into every show they can.

This is rather a leap in the right direction, rather than a step.
