The article talks about how schools are investing thousands of dollars on laptops and tablets in order to "help" the students further in their studies, but so far most schools aren't getting the results they expect. They've tested many children and have discovered that kids that use laptops don't have higher grades than those who do. The kids that use their laptops depend on it for everything even solving simple equations therefore not learning anything. There's a difference between copying and pasting, the kids aren't learning anything, in fact its back tracking most students.
I understand that technology is essential now in the 21st century, computers are a huge part in learning because there is easy access to information (just like this blog; it helps us share ideas and what not) for school and other subjects in school.
But i do feel like maybe there should be a boundary on how technology can be used, the relationship between student and teacher should be interactive. It builds social skills and other skills in your brain.

Technology is supposed to help us not take us back.Kids are just overusing them. Maybe they vould jut have less technology time rather than taking it away completely.
ReplyDeletehmm the issue. perhaps if the computers and tablets were only used at home where students have less access to these resources for the purpose of homework instead of class work then the problem could be minimized.- mariela lomeli
ReplyDeleteComputer are very useful, but I do believe there comes a point where all of the electronics become a detriment to the leaning facilit.
ReplyDeleteI can see both sides of this argument, and I do agree that using computers makes it easier to cheat and it can become something students rely on a little to heavily. However, I do think computers are very useful and the technology we have is revolutionizing the education system. People used to go to school to memorize things and learn it because the information wasn't always available to them, now we have 24/7 access to anything we want to know, so I think computers are a good tool for students. - Sophie Kurzius, 8th period
