Refugee crisis: Julie Shilling period 4, 9-20-15

President Obama is under increasing pressure to demonstrate that the United States is joining European nations in the joining to resettle Syrian refugees, it has been said that administration to take in at least 10,000 displaced Syrians over the next year. the White House press secretary said in a briefing Thursday that while administration was continuing to examine responses to the refugee crisis that has overwhelmed Europe in recent days, the president has decided to raise the number of Syrian refugees admitted into the United states.

I understand how President Obama is trying to keep a good relationship with the European nations by admitting Syrian refuges to the U.S; however by doing this it puts our people at a greater risk of terrorism. A good question is why the Middle East is not doing anything to help with the crisis of their own people. President Obama must be very cautious about letting anyone into our country from the Middle East at this time, especially in mass amounts. All these people could be innocent families that are just looking for a better home, or they could be the next generation terrorist just waiting for the right moment to strike. The problem is we have absolutely no way of knowing who the innocent are, and who is not.

  1. I agree that President Obama must indeed be extremely cautious. I do not want to assume that those who will be coming into the United States are terrorists. They could very much be desperate families looking for an opportunity to live a safe live. However, there is a strong possibility of terrorists taking advantage of the administration into the U.S. Madeline Jones 4th period
