Possible Alliance Between Al-Qaeda and ISIS, Emir Price, 9th

SOURCE: http://www.cnn.com/2015/09/14/middleeast/al-zawahiri-al-qaeda-isis-olive-branch/index.html

The leader of Al-Queda, Ayman al-Zawahiri has come out to declare it is a goal of his to unite his own terrorist empire with that of his rival group ISIS and it's leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi that has been gaining a lot of media tension for their publicly and proudly displayed acts of violence. While proposing this truce between the warring Jihadists, al-Zawahiri insists that ISIS isn't handling their goals properly, as if there's some type of honor-among-thieves in the global terrorism scene. Despite al-Zawahiri's insistence al-Baghdadi has appointed himself as "guardians of the Muslims without", he still believes in the idea of the two forces uniting against their common enemy.

al-Zawahiri doesn't fool me when he says he wants peace between ISIS and Al-Queda so they can be a combined powerful force against the rest of the world. I hope he doesn't fool himself either. At the end of the day, Middle-Eastern terrorism with how large as it's become will lose it's goals of perserving fundamentalist Muslim ideals and become about power. al-Zawahiri would like to wipe ISIS off the face of the Earth before choosing to link up with al-Baghdadi. I'm sure they've already realized the profit they can get from this industry of theirs which they founded to protect their ideals. Bet money they end up like Bloods and Crips, who dropped their idea of protecting the black community from police brutality in favor of drug trafficking and banging on anyone from the opposing side.

I find this very interesting. I had, for some reason, believed that the two terrorist organizations were linked already. If these two link now, they could became an exponentially larger threat to America.

  2. I applaud you Emir this article was very interesting to read and very well written. I think that the two combining would be dangerous but I also believe that it could possibly cause inner conflict between the groups. -Heather Hatch 8th period.

  3. I disagree with you, I think that the two groups are fighting for the same reason, and that is to proliferate the Islamic religion. I think, I do not hope, that the two groups could ally, and this alliance would result in a devastation throughout not only the middle-east but the entire world, and unfortunately I do believe that America would be on the receiving end of said destruction

  4. Regardless of whether they unite, these terrorists groups need to be subdued. I think I would see them tearing each other apart trying to govern. It would then be easier to take over and shut down both. -Kiyanna Elliott
