Kim Davis Denying Gay Couples Marriage Licenses




Summary: Kentucky county clerk refused to give a marriage license to a gay couple and was sent to jail for not complying with the federal law.  After spending five days in jail she was released and will have to issue marriage licenses for same-sex couples unless she wants to be heavily fined and/or sent to jail.

Analysis- Since June, the Supreme Court has made a law allowing same-sex couples to receive marriage licenses. To me, whether or not you believe in same-sex marriage, and don't want to distribute them to homosexuals, doesn't matter because it's the federal law. So since Ms. Kim isn't quitting her job, that means she has to oblige by the rules, no matter what her religious beliefs are.
