The 24-year-old mother was put into custody on saturday after her two children were found living in a crate in a cave. The crate was surrounded by car parts in various states of disrepair. The crate the 4 and 6 year old children were in was furnished with vehicle bench seats, two small blankets, trash, and thin wires. The children were taken to Children's Mercy Hospital where they were evaluated, bathed, and given clean clothes. Brittany Mugrauer was charged with two counts of felony child endangerment.
It saddens me that people treat children like this, especially parents. Parents are supposed to protect and love their young but too often this doesn't happen. I wonder why she felt she had to do this. Was she annoyed or did she just not care? I just hope that these kids get the proper care and love that they have been denied for far too long.
